چکیده

Objective To investigate the phenotypic relationships between aortic stiffness and left ventricular (LV) stroke volume (SV) and modes of deformation (longitudinal LD and radial -RD) at rest and stress, with preserved and compromised contractile capacity. Background Increased aortic stiffness, measured by pulse wave velocity (PWV), is linked to a range of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and acts as predictor of CV events, independently of age-related increase in pulse pressure. As an integrated marker of the pulsatile component of LV

Gender-specific differences in myocardial deformation and aortic stiffness at rest and dobutamine stress.

Elderly women have increased aortic and ventricular stiffness but preserved global systolic function. Possible gender differences in ventricular deformation attributed to increased aortic stiffness at rest or with positive inotropic stress remain unknown. Eighty-four subjects (mean age: 63±8 years) were assessed for aortic stiffness by pulse wave velocity and ventricular deformation at rest and...

CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE Relation between left ventricular contractile reserve during low dose dobutamine echocardiography and plasma concentrations of natriuretic peptides

Background: In ischaemic cardiomyopathy, raised plasma concentrations of natriuretic peptides are associated with a poor long term prognosis, while the presence of contractile reserve is a favourable sign. Objective: To assess the relation between plasma natriuretic peptides and contractile reserve. Design: Prospective observational study. Setting: Tertiary referral centre. Patients: 66 consecu...

Prognostic value of low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography in patients with aortic stenosis and impaired left ventricular function

INTRODUCTION The aim of this multicenter, prospective study was to evaluate the long-term prognostic value of low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography (LDDSE) in patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and depressed left ventricular (LV) function. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study group comprised 39 patients (34 male, mean age 59 ±13 years) with AS (peak gradient > 25 mm Hg), LV ejection fraction ...

Association between aortic stenosis severity and contractile reserve measured by two-dimensional strain under low-dose dobutamine testing.

BACKGROUND/AIM Early detection of left ventricle (LV) systolic dysfunction could be a clue for surgical treatment in patients with significant aortic stenosis (AS). Therefore, we evaluated LV peak of global longitudinal strain (PGLS) using speckle tracking imaging at rest and during low-dose dobutamine infusion in asymptomatic patients with moderate and severe AS and preserved LV ejection fract...

Dobutamine stress for evaluation of right ventricular reserve in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Right ventricular contractile response to pharmacological stress in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) has not been characterised. We evaluated right ventricular contractile reserve in adults with PAH using dobutamine stress echocardiography. 16 PAH patients and 18 age-matched controls underwent low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography. Contractile reserve was assessed by the change (Δ; p...
